DaveH
Define a 'proper pub'. Now there's an interesting challenge! One that sells proper beer without any gimmicks or pretentiousness. Stuart knows exactly what a "proper pub" is because he used to live in one.
DaveH
Open before 1951 ! Come on Richard, even before the introduction of 24 hour opening and the easing of licencing hours most pubs were open before ten minutes to eight lol

DaveH
What is the significance of 1951....? It is Richards arbitary cut off point for what constitutes an historic pub. Before that date its history and included in his lists, after that date it is classed as "modern" and may or may not be in the lists, - depending on information submitted by members. Originally we didn't want to include details of landlords still serving, giving away their current name and address on the Internet. Now though it seems that many of the modern post 1951 pubs have been demolished or converted into churches, restraints and supermarkets so it hardly matters any more. I'm sure that eventually we will include all of Sheffields pubs.
