ukelele lady
There's not much known about the Underground Theatre or where exactly it was in the Wicker area. There's a small piece in Bryen D Hillerby's book on Lost Theatres of Sheffield. Miss Edith Glynne was employed by Mr Thomas Machin, being engaged as a serio to appear at the " Underground Music Hall in Sheffield. Yes it's stated that she was paid £7 -5s for one week only. After all the excavations done in that area in recent years you would have thought someone would have discovered it.
Calvin72
I was recently looking at Bryen Hillerby's book mentioned above and was intrigued by the reference to the 'Underground Theatre'. Clearly it was well enough known to book performers at a good rate too. Surely a well-mapped area though, and no reference anywhere?
