SteveHB
A few decent images worth taking into consideration can be seen in the early posts of RichardB's Topic .. Rocks Fine Art Views, approximately 1900 I particularly like the Fitzallen Square photo (post #9) and High Street (post #8) with the Bank building that's still standing on the R/H side of the picture

Stuart0742
2 excellent historic views Steve There are some excellent quality bus photo's in the topic bus photo's I have the originals prints for these. Perhaps 1 of our bus experts could guide as to which is most suitable as "Classic Sheffield"

madannie77
A few thoughts from me: how about the last day of buses on The Moor, given the current redevelopment some heavy haulage, particularly the Coupes picture the line up at Grimsethorpe Steam Shed I thought an electric at Victoria might be good, to highlight the folly of what happened to the Woodhead route and Victoria Station I am biased, of course, but I think lots of trams are needed, especially as 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the first Sheffield tramway system. Time to look at some more bus photos.

Time to look at some more bus photos. I like the last bus on the Moor, also the 2nd heavy haulage photo. Yes the Grimesthorpe shed is a good railway photo but not sure as to the quality. Do we have a decent size (shall not get into the resolution debate) photo of an Electric at Victoria, the ones in the Victoria Station topic are a bit small

madannie77
http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/i...ost&p=39475 Sheffield Tram No.1 Surely got to have tram no 1: why did I not see that in my last trawl through the transport section? I haven't come across any horse tram photos - probably missed those in the same way! A few road transport thoughts: Holday time - is the quality odf this good enough? Exchange street. I like this one for the period detail in the shot (as well as the bus, of course) This one of Pond Street is another one I like I also like this one of Central Bus Station, although there appears to be a shadow image on it. If there is one of the Bus Station included, however, I think it has to be DaveH's as already mentioned.

madannie77
Thanks Madannie your ideas appreciated. The quest now is for a horse drawn tram The only picture I have seen on my trawlings is this from Dunsbyowl, which is Sheffield Tramways Company 15 and lives on at Crich. The picture is quite small, but I assume quite modern.

I like 'Holiday time' vox, wouldn't think that that another scan could bring any more out of MA's image. This is how it fits into a A4 size print out, original page size reduced for display on here. I don't know how to describe the effect on the image which I was concerned about - it is not so much grainy, as a bit spotty! My father has some old photos which have the same effect, presumably something to do with the original developing/printing. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Do I know what I am talking about? Anyway, it looks good to my eyes in the sample page.

'Rocks Fine Art Views' contains some excellent quality images when you consider the era taken, there could also be a SH traditional calendar but I'm keeping that one under my hat ;-)
