Are those American dollars, Australian dollars are some other country which uses its own version of the dollar? Do we know which country this advertisment originated from? This is a genuine advert for the events of our local club Sheffield Society of Model Engineers The dollars are Australian or more precisely Tasmanian (sorry, no Euros or Monopoly money accepted). Not only do we have a Sheffield here, we also have the River Don. It was possibly the Don River Railway who organised the Steam Train Rides ( www.donriverrailway.com.au ) Tasmania has a long and rich association with steam - trains, tractors and farm machinery. Pearns Steam World is one of the local preservation societies ( www.pearnssteamworld.org.au ) With Sheffield and the River Don only 1/2 hour drive away it's like home away from home. I don't think there are direct flights to Tasmania so it would have to be Sydney or Melbourne. An "internal" (yes I know Tasmania is an island) Australian flight to Hobart. Transport from there to Sheffield, Tasmania. All the above to be RETURN journeys. ...and on top of that about 7$ (Tasmanian) to get in to the steam event. I'll let you cost that one up Stuart, - you're an expert at that sort of thing after your recent excursion to the south of France in nicely linked seperate steps. I am assuming that it is current, - 2009 Who could afford to fly to Australia in the 1950's? Perhaps we could sail there on one of those £10 emigration deals?
