ukelele lady
I can't find anything on a Caledonia Arms 19-21 Charlotte Street . In the Whites Directory 1862 , it says Alfred Lomas , beerkeeper and shopkeeper but no mention of a pub name. Just for the record Caledonia Terrace is just off Gell Street in the area of Charlotte Street.

syrup
It's the only Beehive I know in that area [ they used to have some good jazz nights there] It does look pretty old, I'll have to look on some old maps unless it's been rebuilt. First Public House i can find on Dykes Hall Road is The Castle Inn in 1871 Joseph Gregory File Grinder.
ukelele lady
First Public House i can find on Dykes Hall Road is The Castle Inn in 1871 Joseph Gregory File Grinder. This census has got me puzzled, below " The Castle " it says Fowler Street. Why should Fowler Street follow Dykes Hall Road, I thought Fowler Street was Pitsmoor unless they used to be one in the Hillsborough area?

Why should Fowler Street follow Dykes Hall Road, I thought Fowler Street was Pitsmoor unless they used to be one in the Hillsborough area? Hi ukelele lady i have checked the Census and there was two Fowler Streets, The one off Dykes Hall Road does not seem to be very long as it only seems to record two families.I am posting the one before the Castle Inn sheet and the one after.
