Then I suspect the Hallamshire pub on the A to Z is meant to be Wentworth STREET

as Wentworth Road is at Thorpe Hesley. Also you gave a name of Bocking as keeper

for Bond Street and we also have Robert Bocking 1871 at Wentworth ROAD [ should be Street ]

I wonder if Richard would agree with us on that.

Yup a look at an 1890 OS map shows Wentworth street (the Burlingtonis on it ) to run at the bottom of Bond st.

Included the 1891 for the 'Hallamshire', includes a (already known) keeper for the Bloomsbury too.

I recently posted a Wagon& Horses 1876 Mary Atkinson at Oxspring but haven't found a spot for it yet.

Having said that the Wagon & Horses at Langsett used to be a good pub. The Greens ran it in the 50s

and looking at the first date on the A to Z 1881 the Greens ran it then too. [ Keep it in the family ]

After the Greens came out the new keepers thought they would make it more upmarket and have a

wine garden etc.

When some walkers/hikers came for a drink they were turned away and so the tale goes , the

landlord was dismissed from his duties .At the time there were only two pubs in Sheffield with this brewery,

this one and the Athol in the centre. Any guesses?

Would it have been Scottish & Newcastle?
