We Three Loggerheads, one reply via PM, incorrect according to my data.I fully understand and appreciate the answer given, my advice is "think less" and that's a clue.

It was only "incorrect" in terms of the answer I had - the Pub sign showed only two people/things the person viewing the sign was the third loggerhead - meant as a jest.

No offence taken Richard i was just showing my first atempt, Now this one we could have bought in 2003.

On the third day from London, when evening was drawing to a close, we began to reach familiar scenes--the inn of "the Loggerheads," with the sign of the two heads and the motto-- "We three Loggerheads be."

What years please for the Vine and the Bank ? Any keepers in common please ?

Vine lots of known keepers, Bank only one (my data) - they could "dovetail" very well.

That's the only one , on your data.

1854 William Widowson, the Bank .

But we also have William Widowson at the Vine.

I must say I've not come across a Bank. . . only the one's that charge you. he he

Same keepers, same address - renamed after Bank Streets creation maybe - could have been The Shore or The Nighingale - how so ? (Not intended for you UKL)

Just looking at the A to Z at the Hallamshire, Wentworth Road and I'm trying to piece together

what Richard S posted of a Hallamshire , Bond Street.

I've an idea where Bond Street is but where is Wentworth Road?

Can't picture either - which is a problem if "the experts" can't hack it ! he he

Bond St is long gone AFAIK, Martin st at Upperthorpe ran off it.

Then I suspect the Hallamshire pub on the A to Z is meant to be Wentworth STREET

as Wentworth Road is at Thorpe Hesley. Also you gave a name of Bocking as keeper

for Bond Street and we also have Robert Bocking 1871 at Wentworth ROAD [ should be Street ]

I wonder if Richard would agree with us on that.
