On my 1881 map they are two separate places , as today , changing at the top of the road after the library.

I lived at the top of the road from the library, called Upperthorpe ,opposite the cooperage.

Twas a guess, I was only seven... put up a guess then hope people can guess better or pass comment.

No , I knew the landlord who had it in 1969 and it was called Hole in the Wall then.

This is the only one I can find at the moment, dated 1889-92.

It's not a very good copy but you can see the road named just Upperthorpe and

the one named Upperthorpe Road.
