Here is a link to the original topic, plenty of discussion has taken place. http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/i...ost&p=21547 I tend to agree with Waterside Echo (post 78 in the original thread) that thie railway in this picture is the Sheffield & District Railway between Brightside and West Tinsley Station, based on staring at maps, railway books, sectional appendices and one or two old photos. I have no first-hand knowledge of the area in times past, however, and the Sheffield & District Railway seems to have been very unpopular with photographers. The signal box at West Tinsley was officially (in 1960) 969 yards from Brightside Juction box, which would put it in the right place for a photo taken from Vulcan Road, as suggested by Waterside Echo.
