Sheffield Bridges

OK Folks, here's a decent (alphabetical) list of Sheffield Bridges; can you add to it ? Are there any duplicates ?

I'm putting a finish date of 1950 on this listing so we don't need any Supertram or Meadowhall type bridges (if such things exist).

Eventually, as per Pubs, Cinemas etc each Bridge will have a post all of its own; it's at that point that we get to apply known dates/picture links etc.

Monkey Walk Bridge seems to appear in the list,

but not by this name.

Would that be Hangman Monkey Rack Walk linking Middlewood Tavern and Beeley Wood Forge ?

Yep that's the one.

Another lesser known foot-bridge, Skeltons Bridge (known localy as 'Skelly's'), Cutlers Walk Heeley.

Leadmill Bridge Leadmill Road

Once known as Boardman's Bridge ? (over the Porter)

Duchess road bridge is missing from the list as is Havelock Bridge over the Sheaf and the railway line.

Malin Bridge unless this is meant by Mousehole bridge ? There's also the other bridge there carrying the Rivelin Valley road over the Loxley.

Abbey Lane bridge..rail and river, Woodseats road, Archer road (2) the same.

Perhaps easier to follow the rivers rather than the alphabet :D

Street addresses/location descriptions also gratefully received for any which are missing. Thanks.

Added to list, Thank you.

(I'd hold fire with maps for the rest, until we have a decent attempt at a "complete" list).

Ball Bridge or Ball Street Bridge isn't on the list unless it's listed under another name.

I think also the proper name for the Corporation street bridge is Borough Bridge.

Hello RichardB,

Do you get anywhere with having a separate post for each Sheffield Bridge?

If not, you might consider the following Wikipedia article as a starting point:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Don,_South_Yorkshire#Bridges_over_River_Don

It gives some brief details for most of the bridges over the River Don between Livesey Street and Halfpenny Footbridge.

Great link davebevis, Thank you.

I don't think we got any further with Bridges beyond what you see here - there is always time.

Welcome to the Site.

I think also the proper name for the Corporation street bridge is Borough Bridge.

At the East Corner of the Bridge, on the North Side of the River Don under a Five Ton Stone, There is a Bottle containing a Parchment Scroll.
