The Gamekeeper

This was filmed in and around Sheffield in 1980 and used the school I went to (Greengate Lane Junior & Infant school) in High Green.

The classroom scenes were of one of the classess in the school and they picked a lad called Peter Steele (not Peter Steels as the website i've put a link too suggests).

The classroom scene was shot in the staffroom which the poor teachers had to give up for a few days bless em ;)

What was it all about?

I've only ever seen it once as it's not on video or DVD and only appeared one time on tv.

I seem to remember it was about a gamekeeper who was trying to catch poachers.

If I had been a day older I would have been in the class they used for the film.

I remember a lad called Paul Johnson also from High Green had a line in the classroom scene.

It's so long ago I can't remember much else unfortunately.

Maybe Channel 4 may have it on one of thier film channels one day.

The Gamekeeper was written by Barry Hines (of Kes and Threads fame) and the film directed by Ken Loach, personally I prefered it to Kes.

Not many people seen to remember it. :(

I remember it. Rita May was also in it. I worked at a video shop in Elsecar at the time, and the man who played the gamekeeper used to come in. For the life of me I can't remember his name.
