Guest tsavo
Well PC, the first map gave me something to think about. According to that, Darwin Rd was at Crookes (off Northfield Rd) between Loxley View Rd and Stothard Rd. Darwin Rd is at Hillsborough, just opposite the Wednesday training ground, or at least it was last time I looked. So a swop of names occured at some time. Darwin Rd must have become Netherfield Rd., but when? Great post by the way!

This is an advert for the Fleur de Lys Hotel , 66 Fargate. From Sheffield History map and the Sheffield Picture ,the hotel would have been where Dean and Dawson is on this photocopy from the 60,s.Sorry don,t know where it came except my daughter copied it at school in the sixties. Please re post where you see fit.

JohnPugh66
I'm in the process of pulling together a family connection to the Ancient Order of Foresters as I've discovered my Gt Grandfather J H Pugh is listed in the 1904 'The Sheffield Red Book' as Secretary of Court 4006 'Pride of Honour', with a place of meeting at the Hallamshire Café on Savile Street and was subsequently elected to serve as District Chief Ranger from October 1912 to October 1913. Looking at this post I understand that it was made 12 years ago, however if you still have access to the Ancient Order of Foresters, High Court, 1903-Guide to Sheffield I would appreciate it if you have any information on the Court 4006 'Pride of Honour' or any reference to J. H. Pugh / John Humphrey Pugh or his father W Pugh / Walter Pugh. Thanks!
