Mystery Clock

Who mended it? <_<

Was it Wayne Beckett?

The problem was "Electricity"

When the clock was installed nobody would take ownership of the power issue, I think Sheffield council and YEDL have come to a solution.

Should have sent for Wayne Beckett then ;-)

He had St. Mary's church clock powered by a 12 volt meccano motor! :P

I don't think we've had this one.

Distinctly dodgy because (today at least) the 2 faces were telling different times. (and neither of those was correct)

Too much traffic to stop for a photo so here's the Streetview.

Just remembered this

No takers?

It is in a prominent position on a major route in and out of Sheffield.

If vox has given us a Google street view of the clock I have assumed it was taken in the last few years and is still there today.

As I've no idea, I was asking because it might have been there since 1992 or since 1834 or since before Aristotle had a whelk-stalk down the Wicker (whatever year it was built) ... which is a reasonable question given the lack of progress in identifying it.

It looks "modern" to my view, even to the chance of it being constructed since I left Sheffield in the early 1980's (Disco left me cold ...)

Yes, it is modern building.

Last time I drove past it was empty and To Let.

The building is in two halves and the clock is on top of a single story link between them.

Mmmmm , modern and stood empty, that sounds familiar.

It looks like it could be some sort of eating house?

I'll start making wider views 'till someone gets it.

I'm quite surprised it is proving difficult.

Unless the time is 5 minutes to 11 the clock is dodgy because it appears to have only 1 hand

Or, as Hilda Baker would have said,-

"It's 5 to....Eeeh I'll have to get a little hand put on this clock!" lol

I never noticed that Dave,

however on closer inspection the hands do appear to be ovulated.

lol

It's a hormonal thing you know.

Yes but ovulation happens (in humans) approximately once every 28 days, and not always at 5 to 11.

The "biological clock" isn't that precise with it's timings.

Mt "Biological Clock" could do with winding back a bit to knock me a few years off lol

Is it the building on the corner of Glossop Road / Gell Street?

I live just round the corner from it.  Never noticed it had a clock before, though! I'll leave it for someone else.

No not Glossop Road UKL,

this building is just off a main road that heads in a southerly direction going out of our City.

I can see the building and clock from my kitchen window,

but then again, I can see a large area of Sheffield from here. :)

That's got to be the A61 Chesterfield Road then.

No Dave,

I can see no part of Chesterfield Road from here,

I'm looking at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital as I type this.

So it has to be closer in to town but it must be the A61 as this is the only main route southwards out of Sheffield.

Must be the Queens Road section then.
