Mystery Clock

A bit too much of a clue.

The former St Lukes National School building Garden Steet, latterly William Whiteley & Sons. Google Streetview shows it covered in scaffolding 'so it's probably going to converted into yet more flats, although the firm seems to have an active website with no mention of the address.

Apparently they have moved to Rother Valley.

Indeed it is St Lukes National School. I thought the clue was a bit too easy, but everything else I thought of seemed too obscure to be of any help.

As it looked on 18th August: rather more to be seen than in Google streetview.

Ah so I do work near (ish) this building. Only thing is (hehehe) it wasn't the building I was thinking of...

I thought it was the archaeology building on West Street, but the triangle housing the clock was the wrong size, and that clock was blue, not green. lol. ah well.

Here's another one from someone who is always clock watching.

As these clock mysteries need a wind up here's a clue. . . . Blue clock in a red light area.

You have just given away what is "dodgy" about this mystery clock #16, it's in a red light district :o

Back to the mystery clocks.

No prizes for guessing where this is but it does get the visitors

a little confused when they are going home after a few drinks.

Don't know where this particular one is but we have a clock just like that in one of our physics labs at school.

Great for generating discussion about the direction of time, time travel and Einsteins famous theory of relativity.

Correct it is not a railway clock,

but nearest rail line is just 300 yds away.

Steve l do not know where it is, but it is either the old double faced clock or a replica that used to be on the corner of the old Midland station . skeets

skeets,

that clock is on the Royal Standard PH, St. Mary's Road,

here's a link to the post .. http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=6279&view=findpost&p=72213

And yes it does look very much like the old Station Clock,

has anyone got a photo?

No, its not another of my collection of miniature clocks, - some of which I have made myself.

It is a real clock, - could be considered by some to be a bit dodgy.

Is it Firth Park Library skeets

What next !

Not one but two dodgy clocks, and in a very well known location.

Where are they?

Don't know where they are exactly but it obvious what is dodgy about them.

They aren't telling the same time are they

...and due to their positioning they probably share a common drive mechanism.

I'm losing track of this now.

I think Steve's clock is officially MYSTERY CLOCK #18 in this topic.

The anticlockwise clock would have been #17 but I forgot to number it.

I've seen these somewhere and was going to post but thought it would

be too easy. Now I've forgot where I saw them unless it was when I drove

on Dooley Way near the bottom of the Parkway. ???

Somewhere near the big roundabout [ do they call it Castle Square? ]

UKL,

I do not doubt that there could be clocks that are similar,

but this pair can only be seen in a very well known pedestrian precinct,

to the west of Park Square.

Here is a wider view.

Yes it is on Fargate vox, well done.

next question, can anyone come up with the exact spot ?

Corner of Norfolk Row & Fargate. I don't know the name of the shop, they change every few months. I staggered past it yesterday as it happens. ( I don't walk any more, I stagger.) lol

Yes that's it. I knew I'd seen it so often.

Isn't it strange how we see things time after time and never really take it on board?

Too busy window gazing to notice it UKL,

must admit if someone else had asked me the whereabouts,

I would not have known.

First time I noticed it last Monday.

Until early this year I must have walked up and down Fargate everyday and never noticed this clock.

Perhaps because it is a modern building

I'm digressing slightly but does anyone remember a Mackeson or Guinness clock that used to be situated on top of a building a little way down Fargate. It was above the building that housed Thomas Cook or thereabouts.
