All these dashes are driving me dotty :):o

Don't know if this is a mystery clock, but it is certainly lacking in detail and accuracy: it was not half past five when I photographed it.

OK madannie,

It is a clock

It is dodgy because it has no figures on it

It is not telling the correct time

Lets call it Mystery clock #14

FOR SALE -

Second hand Enigma Machine. Slightly inaccurate.

Here at Bletchley Park, Intake, Sheffield 12 we have already cracked the code on the slightly inaccurate Enigma machine

It says "The Luftwaffe will blitz Rotherham and Doncaster on the 12 December 1940" lol

I've started a bit of a mess here have I not ?

For those who haven't got it yet but want to carry on trying.

W - Road is important. A - Road is important and there's another A - Road a few hundred yards away.

Just forget the rest. and forget the ex-station. It's further away than I thought.

It sounds more like the 3-2-1 dusty bin on the TV series , no one could get those either. he he

And you still couldn't understand them at the end when they'd explained them.

..and even if you DID understand them AND got all the clues right all you won was a dustbin with a face on it lol

I'm fairly sure that "dusty bin was a traditional metal dustbin for all manner of rubbish

How old and dated is that series now?

Almost the entire country has plastic wheelie bins now, often in a variety of different colours for different types of waste.

Never watched the program much anyway,

Didn't like Ted Rodgers.

While we're still pondering on Madannies clock [ I'm sure I've seen that somewhere ]

here's one of four , all within yards of each other and in working order.

So the four of them together will have to be

Mystery Clock #15A

Mystery Clock #15B

Mystery Clock #15C

Mystery Clock #15D

That could be the dodgy bit about them, but as you say they share a common (within yards) location, so only one answer required.

Let's say half of the answer is the bottom end of the bus station.

There's a clock on the reverse side of this one.

But the other two? Go on , it's easy peasy.

Hey Stuart, you've answered Mystery clock #15 parts A and B ;-)

But Ukelele Lady is now demanding you answer parts C and D :o

Another clock I know the location of :ohe he . Well, one of them, anyway, although whether it is 15C or 15D I am not sure. Can't see the other one on Google Streetview.

Yes it is - easiest yet - Midland Station.

Yes vox, this is just one of them above the station.

Why so many clocks in one small area?

Why so many clocks in one small area?

So 15A and 15B are in Pond Street bus station and 15C and 15D are at the Midland station.

solved by Stuart and Vox.

The reason that there are so many clocks in this small area is that buses (Pond Street) and trains (Midland Station) run to set timetables and if you are a few minutes late you can miss your transport connection so you need to know the time fairly accurately.

At least that's the theory of it.

In practice (the dodgy bit) buses and trains very rarely manage to stick precisely to their timetables for a number of reasons, and...

I bet not all 4 of those clocks are all telling exactly the same time! <_<

Here's another one from someone who is always clock watching.

So this is mystery clock #16

No A & B etc. subsections to it this time but I hope there is something dodgy about it.

Was Madannies clock uncovered or have I missed it.

I had a feeling it was some where around Shoreham Street area.

No it isn't madannies mystery clock #14 (with the painted out dial)

and mystery clock #13 (at A-----Road, A----- Lane, C-----K----Road) is also, as far as I can tell, generally unsolved except in a number of PM's between individual members.

Mystery Clock #14 seems to be causing difficulties: I wonder if expanding the view slightly might help.

Any more and the game would be given away.

I am going to be away from the computer for a week and a bit, so you have plenty of time to find this one lol

Oh dear: I didn't expect to come back from my holiday and find Mystery Clock #14 still a mystery. Another, slightly cryptic clue is clearly needed. I think this one should be very helpful.

Was the patron saint of physicians taught in this building?

Madannie, I believe I may work near this building. I will PM you with what I think is the location.

Just had a closer look at Google Street View, and realised that the palladian pediment(?) the triangle-y roof-line thing above the clock) is different, and that the clock is green in my link and blue in the Mystery-clock link

Many apologies! :D

A bit too much of a clue.

The former St Lukes National School building Garden Steet, latterly William Whiteley & Sons. Google Streetview shows it covered in scaffolding 'so it's probably going to converted into yet more flats, although the firm seems to have an active website with no mention of the address.

HD

Apparently they have moved to Rother Valley.
