The old Sitwells died out mid-18th. century. Francis Hurt of Holdworth in Bradfield changed his name to Sitwell to inherit his uncle's estate at Renishaw. It was Francis Hurt who built the house known as Mount Pleasant in Highfields about 1777. He used it as a 'town house' until 1794. I believe there was a Sitwell road close to the house when the area was built up.

Part of the old Sitwell Road still exists, just a short stretch either side of the grounds of the new Sharrow School, built beside Mount Pleasant Park. There is also a "Sitwell Place" just around the corner.

there are minor errors, this map shows the Sharrow Lane end as being quite long, when in fact it's the drive to the school, now.
