The owner has been told that this was the name of the farm, but he is not 100% sure, anyone confirm this?

This end part attached to the cottage was where the 'beast's' were kept.

Interior of the 'beast' house, with original timbers.

This shows the original hay loft floor.

Finally the farm's barn.

Do you know the name of the family who used to farm here in years past, assuming it was known as Whitehouse Farm then? Thanks, Anne

Hi Trefcon

I have just noticed all the old registration plates in the barn roof, where are they all from, how far back do they date,, why are they there?

Hi Sando, i've not spotted those before!

The guy who lives there has a small transport concern operating from the yard, so i assume they're from some of his old vehicles?

Dean.

A-ha! My partner is a Greaves and his family farmed Whitehouse Farm at Ecclesfield since the year dot, it seems. His grandfather moved away as a young man to farm in our area. It's quite exciting for him to see these pictures as we've not been able to find any photos previously, although we had found the family trees. Interesting stuff! Thanks for that! Anne :)

My husband's grandfather was also born in 1871 at White house Farm - we must be related. His Father was Richard David Greaves. Why the Greaves family left Whitehouse Farm we do not know but the family who ran the transport business were called Singleton. Arthur, your grandfather, was bought a farm on Yew Lane as a wedding present, or so we believe.

John Tofield Greaves was my uncle although I never met him. as far as I was aware he moved to Leeds where he died. He had two sons Alan and Robert I think, one of whom is farming in Australia? This is as much history as I know. My email is available on request to any site moderator if you have any information for me or want any other information from me.
