Hello,

Here's another piece of trivia. I don't know how many Garratts the LMS had but I had my only sighting of one as a child, in say 1946-48.

It was a summer Saturday afternoon on the Hope Valley line approx. half way between Hope and Edale. The section where the road runs along side the railway. I didn't know what it was until my Dad explained, stopped the car and we watched it go by.

I believe the LNER had one but never knew where it worked. Certainly not around Sheffield.

Regards

The stretch of line from Edale to Hope is very picturesque, it must have been a remarkable site.

Not the same, far from it but a similar idea. A decent bit of scenery all the same

1988 20032 and 20063

Heading towards Hope, looks like it has just passed Edale Station.

It would help if you read the posts and didnt just look at the pictures :rolleyes:

During the tunnel work they took an awfull lot of trees out very good for photos but not if you were a bird with your nest in one

Always my problem, jump to conclusions and do not read the full story. It is a tight curve there which makes your photo possible otherwise it does look like you were at the side of the line. Should have known better, that you would not have been, apologies :) :)
