Sheffield's First Bishop

Passing through Shiregreen cemetery a few weeks ago I had a closer look at this memorial which stands near the gates. As you can see it is to Leonard Hedley Burrows -the first Bishop of Sheffield and his wife.

Second Lieutenant 9th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Killed in action February 1910. 15. Aged 26. Son of The Rev. Leonard, Hedley Burrows, Bishop of Sheffield and Anna Louisa Burrows of Bishopsholme near Sheffield. Buried in Larchwood (Railway Cutting) Cemetery
