Tram/Bus Gates

Sheffield History

Recommended Posts

In Manchester they now have automatic bus gates.

The bus or tram drives up and stops/slows and the bollards disappear into the ground (after scanning the bus to make sure it's a bus etc) and the bus drives on through

A car drives up - gets scanned and the bollards stay as they are - so the car can't get through

Excellent and only a matter of time before they appear in Sheffield.

Watch and see how they work (click the play button in the bottom left to see how they work)

This is the manchester one

Thought this was brilliant !

Can't see Sheffield City Council Paying for this though, they have got better things to waste our money on.

There's some already gone up - although not sure if they are private or public

I think there's one at the old Peace Gardens between town hall and winter gardens too

They are private ones, for the St Paul Hotel, you push a button on the barrier, which links the intercom with reception, who then lower the bollard to enable you to access the parking area.
