Excursion train cut in two

I heard about this story a good few years ago from a railwayman that was keen on local history. There is a grave in Stannington Church Yard containing the remains of someone killed in the very same incident. I cant remember the name on the grave but as I remember it was a single plot. I would have thought that the Allott victims would have been buried together so maybe it was someone who died later from injuries received.

The grave has a locomotive carved into the headstone, and words to the effect of "killed in the great train disaster at Retford".

The railwayman who told me the story researched the event after coming across the grave by chance.
