Guest Old Canny Street Kid
http://www.stanley-royle.com/stanley-royle-biography.html This is a very interesting posting, well worth looking at. It prompts one question from me: does anyone know more about Royle's Ecclesfield connections? Also, to Dunsbyowl and his colleagues, what about trying to start threads re the various old Sheffield artists who, over the years, painted views of Sheffield. It would be good to see some of these pictures on screen. I have often said that if the major art galleries in the city published a book or two of the most famous painting, and produced a wide range of postcards of paintings of Sheffield, they would sell very well. The railway station link seems to 'ring a bell' in some way. I hope when the Ecclesfield history site gets up and going again, someone will be able to ensure that Royle gets a mention.
