Mystery Location

It is either St Mary's Gate or St Mary's Road, not sure where on changes into the other, on a new build block on the left as head towards Granville Rd. I sit outside here daily in traffic on my way to work.

Well done sando,

St Mary's Rd

:)

This location would explain why SteveHB "should know what was on this site before" as he used to live in this area many years ago.

So its back to Stuart0742 to solve this one who also has extensive knowledge of this area.

But I have a memory like a sieve.

:(

Is it the building which used to be Premier Body Builders?

Part of the Premier Body Builders building is still standing.

The Hotel,

that No one has named yet is higher up the road,

towards St Mary's Gate.

....yes the vacant Premier Body Builders building is/has been up for sale for a few years - but has the main gable entrance now almost blocked off by the new building beside it ! :o

Google Street View

Top of the Co-Op building :o

Or more likely from one of the windows near the roof. :)

Very close Vox, there is a balcony that runs around the building, the picture was taken from there.

Just had a look and the building's mentioned in the new Pevsner guide, but it just refers to 3 carved heads and doesn't say who they are, which is unusual. It was built in 1868.
