Mystery Location

I know you said no pics but this is an unusual one.

In the 1980's the council cleared the derelict allotments at High Storrs. The work was done by a team of lads I think on a youth employment scheme. They cleared the scrub and rebuilt some of the perimeter wall. They were obviously proud of their work, as they signed an dated it!

THIS STONE WAS LAID

BY

LEE MICK DAVE(?) TAWNY

1982

Not a bad first attempt for a group of lads on youth training, although I thought Tawny was a girls name. The stone has already been engraved for over 26 years, being a lower stone in the wall it is covered in moss but their writing is still clearly visible and readable. Perhaps they had promising careers as stonemasons.

If we count this, the wall around High Storrs allotments, then by my reconning we are now up to 11 dated stones with different years.

Did I just solve a major, international mystery that has already been solved ? - Sorry if I have, I don't visit here often (this thread) so I don't really know ...

Looks like it,

I noticed the pub signs were blanked out when I did the crop

for our quiz. (well spotted Stuart0742)

But at the side, same time (12/12/07) Alexandra still exists ?

Proper mystery pub "Pub with no Name"

It has to be something to do a owner/franchise change,

may be the previous company owners were displayed on

the pub sign/s

Cathedral, Campo is North, East Parade is East (Doh !), St James Walk (Virgin's Row) is West, Church Street is South

This is useful maybe, NESW indicator, never could work it out ... up is generally grey/blue/wet, down is down/grey/wet.

It became the 'Irish Centre' for a while when they moved from Brunswick street. Not sure if it still is.

I was wandering through town today heading up Division Street. I noticed date stones on the Yates' Wine Lodge (1989) and on Centre 45, (the former bail hostel, and Probation services building) the date reading 1939.

I'm losing count now. Does that make it 11 or 12?

Is it Bessemer House, on Carlisle Street?

I've lost the plot, I don't know what I'm trying to identify so I might just make places up ...

Mrs Miggins Pie-Shoppe, Whelk Boulevard, Fulwood ...

Is it a remote controled flying turret disguised as a security camera?

If so,

it could be seen anywhere over Sheffield?

It is connected to a building and permanently attached to the floor, the security camera is nothing to do with the building, its just spying on the poor folk of Sheffield
