SteveHB
Holiday Inn Victoria Station Approach Well done siren, The prize was a Christmas Pudding but I don't seem to be able to get into the post box, so I will have to eat it myself .. sorry Since 1862 the Royal Victoria has been offering high quality service in a relaxed Victorian, period setting for all of it's guests. History of the Royal Victoria The Hotel added the ‘Royal’ prefix following a visit in 1875 by their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The hotel has enjoyed further royal patronage including visits from Queen Victoria in 1897, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra again in 1905 and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth and the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret in 1947. The Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company assumed management in 1893. The comparatively local railway became more ambitious and forged a link South to a new London terminus at Marylebone. On completion of this main line the company changed its name to the Great Central Railway and to this day, one of the hotel’s meeting rooms bears the name ‘The Great Central Room’. In 1923 The Great Central Railway was absorbed by LNER (London North East Railway) and the Royal Victoria Hotel became one of 25 hotels operated by the company. LNER were later nationalised and the hotel operated under British Transport Hotels. Now a Grade II listed building.

Guest plain talker
Ahaa, but I have the Christmas Pudding! (that's not a clue by the way) I think It's "Walkabout", on the corner of West St and Carver St which used to be the beautiful 1802-built Methodist church. I'm pretty certain, as I was involved in the campaign to prevent it being turned into a pub.

You did right PT, I use to work just round the corner from there and was allowed to use the churches little car park. Now they have got tables and chairs on top of the grave stones not to mention the spilt beer and broken glasses. Inside it still looks very much like a church, they had some sort of black curtain around the alter. That was a few years ago but I came out, I thought it very insulting to all the funerals which have taken place there when every one were drunk and effing and blinding.
