The wheelybin suggests that it is on street level, but there is a level below, so somewhere with basements ?

What does the red and white sign say ? Possibly "Money G----"

"Basements" Isn't that the posh word vox? :)

I have a couple of photos that were taken in one of the cellars, before the building was renovated.

lol

I used the term Basement because there appear to be large windows, below what appears to be ground level, which suggests that the rooms are useable for other than storage. Cellars are more commonly associated with an underground room devoid, or almost devoid, of natural light. Originally used for storage only.

Difficult to define, but I'll bow to your first hand knowledge of the building and revert to my working class roots.

Cellars they are then. lol

MoneyGram, a money wiring service.

According to their website there are about 45 MoneyGram outlets within the Sheffield Centre area, 'so that narrows it down a bit.

A better photo here, http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wharncliffe/media/Mario/Sunday29April025.jpg.html - before it became obscured from view by the new building.

Not posting this one in the "then and now" thread then?

Old Thread. NEW Post.

Interesting, as always.

I am still trying to work out the whereabouts of the FIRST Photograph(s) in this Post. I thought it was Southey/Southey Green Lane at first, but it can't be.

Where abouts is it, please?

No Ant Marketing was on Clarkehouse Road itself, I believe it’s now Ant Apartments, Clarke House on Clarke Drive sits very close to the Botanical Gardens Curators House.

Field Marshall Viscount Garnet Wolseley 1833 - 1913?

But why does he appear on a terraced house in Sheffield?

Well LeadFarmer, ive no idea as to why he adorns this property on Abbeydale Road BUT there is another one of him on No 12 Ventnor Place in Nether Edge, could it be they were made at the time of one of his derring do`s, who can say, the Ventnor Place one has been painted either white and its faded or cream.
