RichardB
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1911-BIBLIOGRAPHY-OF...id=p3286.c0.m14 Not a bad starting price, I'm just poor !!! so I'm not bidding. This is the first and only edition of this valuable reference work, a proposed second volume for the period 1701 to 1800 was never published. No other work of such detail that covers the South Yorkshire area with the fringes of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire has ever been published. The introduction states: The imaginary circle- the pivot being about Sheffield and Rotherham, uneven enough to include Chesterfield, Penistone, Doncaster, Worksop, Retford, and Pontefract, with many interviewing villages. ----------------------------- Other images also for your consideration. Guest Gramps
"295 Pages, with 65 full page illustrations, bound in original cloth with gilt lettered titles to front and spine, binding has very slight wear, pages are very clean, all complete, Signs of library label removed from front endpaper." And the copy that used to be in Central Library is no longer available. I doubt this is our copy - a book of that vintage would have the 'Sheffield City Libraries' impress on the front cover but I hate it when I see that. Grumps :(
