vox
That's because I had a brain to finger malfunction It should have been Richmond Park, which has a driveway off the then Richmond Lane Aaaah I see. I can't seem to find anything about "Richmond Park" (Apart from the big green one) Looking again though, it seems a bit too far up the road to have been where the gate posts are. vox
Picture sheffield puts the gate posts and farm at the end of Ravenscroft and slightly left. The roads around there now have the Richmond Hall name. "Richmond Park" is much further along. So it looks like we're looking for Richmond Hall Edit: Although what Richmond Park was I don't know. vox
This from Wikipedia Richmond was historically a small settlement consisting of a few cottages and Richmond Hall Farm, built in 1668 and demolished in 1966. Gateposts from the farm, which may have originally flanked an entrance to Sheffield Park, can still be seen amidst a housing estate dating from the late 1960s. Edit: Now I want to know what this Richmond Park is

Syl
I used to pass those gate posts every day . I used to live on Richmond Hill road the road leading down to the big park. However these gate posts are near to where Brook school was. I can remember the farm being demolished in 1966 the year that I got married. Further down the road past the school and nearer to Handsworth is Richmond park road and the estate. I can remember this all being fields as well and you could walk through to Darnall . Lamb Hill farm used to be where the Richmond Hall estate is now and not at all far away on Richmond road I am not sure if there is any connection. There is a bit about the area here that mentions Lamb Hill being a hamlet. http://www.treetonweb.co.uk/parish/handsworth.htm

THYLACINE
Vox! When I saw your post on this topic "Only the Gateposts are left" I thought this was it. I thought your tyreman from Hackenthorpe village had come up with the goods. What happened? Where are our promised pictures?

Mom's been away for a while but she's back soon. That'll give me an opportunity to call in at his place in the village and ask about them.
