The above two cinemas were, according to my grandmother, owned and managed by my great grandfather, George Harry Wadsworth, and his brothers. Other than my Great Aunts working in the box office, and a memory of a family conference discussing the introduction of sound, or not to bother(!) I know nothing more about the family and would love to know anything about these cinemas. Can anyone help?

Hi Ruthiejane, welcome to Sheffield History.

In answer to your queery, click on the link below and select page 2. Scroll down for a history of both the Winkobank and Tinsley Palace.

Many thanks. That is very useful. So the Wadsworth family built Winkbank Palace, and later bought Tinsley Palace? Do any further records survive anywhere?
