Did anyone out there ever stay at the Fairthorn home at Dore? I stayed for 4 weeks in 1958 or 9.

There were about 4 bedrooms that slept 4 or 5. The blue room ,gold room , green room and pink room

if my memory serves me well.

I can still remember some of the girls names who was there at the same time.

Vera Stacey from Attercliffe, Margaret Matilda Macale? and a girl called Pat Tanzy from Parson Cross

who was always telling us young ones about the Roxy.

Loved it , I gained almost a stone before I went home. That's what it was all about.

Is this the place - opened 22/7/1934?

I went to stay at Fairthorne around 1959/60 I went two years running. Loved it.

I remember the different colours in the bedrooms. Had loads of fun. Anyone remember the plays that we put on at the end of the stay?

Hutch

I bet you would remember Mr & Mrs Chumley who were the house keepers, lovely people.

I had my first taste of bacon there, then Mr Chumley would come round and ask

" would anyone like any more dip?" [ bacon fat ] delicious at the time. lol
