RichardB
Peeps into the Past Being Passages from the Diary of Thomas Asline Ward Edited by Alexander B. Bell (Editorial Staff, Sheffield Daily Telegraph) With an Introduction and Annotations by Robert Eadon Leader, B.A. Sir W.C. Leng & Co. Ltd. London Sheffield 1909 First Edition --------------- Currently on sale on eBay, starting price £80; much as I'd like it, it's too much money for me. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1909-THOMAS-ASLINE-W...p3286.m14.l1318 --------------- Thomas Asline Ward 1781 - 1871 was one of Sheffield's most prominent townsmen who took an active part in the affairs of Sheffield for most of his life. He was Master Cutler in 1806 and for some years editor of the Sheffield Independent newspaper. He kept diaries and pocket book jottings from 1800 through to 1871 and this work is based on his diaries. A very detailed account of Wards life, his family, Sheffield people and their lives and 19th century Sheffield history, with the occasional in-text illustration and a fold out genealogical chart of the Ward family of Park house.
