dunsbyowl1867
Though I've seen lots of photos of this I had never noticed the guns at the base of the monument. No doubt another bit of history dumped in the sea with all those iron railings!
Bayleaf
But all is not lost! The monument has been removed from the Botanical Gardens as part of the renovation. And the column, as it so genteely describes as 'disposed of for other uses', was actually moved to a children's playground for the kids to climb on (horizontal, not vertical!) and has been, or is to be, removed and the whole thing is planned to be re-erected in the city centre, though they've been debating exactly where for a long time. Any suggestions?
knightstemplar
I would have thought the Peace gardens would be the best place not far from the origonal place.
Bayleaf
I would have thought the Peace gardens would be the best place not far from the origonal place. As far as I remember the suggestions were around the Town Hall/top of Fargate/ Barkers pool area, so certainly in that area.
