Herries Road itself was built as a scheme of public work by the local unemployed in the early 1920s

I think a similar scheme  was behind Prince of Wales Road as it was described as a Parkway in (I think) 1920.

I’m sure Prince of Wales Road was built by a majority of out of work miners. Desperate times which I wouldn’t want to have experienced.
