hi,used go in the kings head in the 70s with my ma, pa & granma,do'nt know much about the history of the place, but it was always clean & well kept,i think it was a wards pub. it was kept by billy calvert who was a golden gloves army lightweight boxing champion [probably the safest pub in town--lol]anyroad billy moved to the sportsman pub [near the aqueduct]& had his own sign with the golden gloves.1 night 3 gypsies were using bad language in front of lady customers & billy politely asked them to turn it down or drink up & leave, where upon they replied why what are you gonna do you little ****? so billy goes outside with them & comes back in 2 minutes later to phone an ambulance for 3 gypoes spread all over the pavement. happy days. could i ask where you got the tram film from, i'd like to get a copy, i remember the old trams it used to be a scary treat riding on 1 with the noise & sparks when we were kids.

The tram film is an old South Yorkshire Transport film - and shows the view from a tram going through town from meadowhead to tinsley - through the city centre.

A friend of mine owns it - and it's really interesting to see Sheffield as it was come to life on dvd.

Just incase the above article doesn't save. (I'm still a novice at this game) another article about the King of Pedestrianism.
