In 1871 William Stewart was not landlord of this Mason's Arms, but the one on Chapel St (now Capel St). I think that is the one in the pub lists as 14 Capel St, with the earliest date of 1936.

Is this photo recently 'colorized' or was it coloured pre-blitz before the pub was destroyed?

Good representation whoever did it; although the drinkers who frequented it wouldn't have seen it so clearly through the "smokers fog."

Shame there isn't more Interior photographs of the old pubs. Some were photographed by a company before refurbishment and found their way onto Picture Sheffield.
