deejayone
Just been sent this - might be of interest to some people! None of this happened, but all of it is true..... To celebrate 25 years of independent filmmaking in sweet Sheffers - we, yes we, have compiled a rare and eclectic programme of short films which are being beamed across the country onto BBC Big Screens in city centres everywhere. Well......Rotherham, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford and Hull. Under the mysteriously intriguing title 'None of this happened, but all of it is true' the programme showcases the latest work from South Yorkshire filmmakers; Simon Green, Adam McAlavey, Emily Cooper, Sion Markham and Derville Quigley. What to expect whilst your dodging pigeons, grappling with ripped carrier bags on your way back from Somerfields through the main square of city X......?????? Well - six short films no less! Ranging widely in style from gently gothic humour to poignant and lyrical storytelling. So whether it's mulling over existential dilemmas facing seamen on a papier machce trawler, dealing with latent fears of being turned into a root vegetable or dizzy heights of childlike wonder - STOP, LOOK UP and BE ENCHANTED. Watch out for a special appearance by comedian Graham Fellows (the man behind John Shuttleworth) in the horror pastiche 'Frank' and the alluringly transcient work of Emily Cooper. We are delighted to work in partnership on this great project with Big Screen Rotherham Programmer, Bernadette Burbridge. A wonderful lady who recognises the plight of DIY filmmakers and has done everything she can to promote the work of local talent, creating new audiences for a uniquely Yorkshire style of filmmaking. Screening Dates: Feb 17 - 23 Hull Feb 24 - Mar 9 Bradford Mar 3 - 16 Leeds Mar 16 - 23 Liverpool Mar 24 - April 6 Manchester Check out www.sheffieldindependentfilm.co.uk for screening times!!!
