Edmund Posted December 24, 2019 Share Posted December 24, 2019 In September 1844 an application was made by William Badger (file hardener) for a new licence for a beerhouse called the Alderney Cow. The application was deferred for consideration, but then refused. At the 1851 census, Mr Badger's occupation is listed as publican, so presumably a licence was granted later. In 1861 his occupation reverted to file hardener, so perhaps the competition from the Travellers Rest was too much. Mr Badger died on 29th September 1867 aged 72.
