RichardB
A casual visitor to Sheffield will doubtless come away wearied and disgusted. The greasy blackness of the buildings, and the pall of grey smoke which overshadows the city, will have filled him with a longing for the freshness of the country, and a clear, pure atmosphere. Those who know Sheffield, and are accustomed to these things, cease to notice them. Their interests are centred in the cause of this blackness,. so that the smoke and dirt are rightly regarded as necessary, but unfortunate adjuncts.
