Guest fredmciverslovechild
does anyone know what games/year the 2 kop pictures were taken? They were clearly taken much later than the other crowd pictures, with the exception of the Wembley 1966 ones. The old scoreboard was erected for the 1966 World Cup and I think it wasn't long after that that banners were banned from being taken into games. So my guess is they are from the 1966/67 season and from an early or late season mid-week game....

Guest marconi
does anyone know what games/year the 2 kop pictures were taken? The one with the banners, I would hazard a guess, assuming the clock is right, Manchester United home 1967 (drew 2-2)
Guest S64
does anyone know what games/year the 2 kop pictures were taken? I may be wrong , but I've got a feeling the 1st kop picture (with the banners) isn't actually a Wednesday game, It maybe from one of the cup semi finals, but the time on the score board indicates an evening kick off, but then again that scoreboard was prone to odd mistake

Wednesdays first ever live TV game, (in the live TV era), if I remember correctly. Also Wednesdays first ever game with a shirt sponsor I think, (Crosby Kitchens). We got rammed in the replay, (5-1?), but we also won promotion back to the 1st Division after 14 years. Second place to Chelsea. Newcastle scraped in third, and Man City lost out in fourth place - no play-offs back then. Whatever happened to them three? We beat Newcastle's average home gate by about 1,000 that season. What do they average now? 55,000?
Craigio
On 18/02/2007 at 18:13, Sheffield History said: Kop crowd - Hillsborough Pretty sure some of those banners are actually West Germany tricolours (flags). West Germany played their group games at Hillsborough in 1966, I never knew any of them were night matches, but if you think about it, one or two of them would have to of been. That would explain why it's still daylight at 19:46 too.
