I reckon this is view is quite a bit later.

Coles corner, Sheffield's number one meeting place, ......at least it was in the 50s and 60s!

Hi I'll have a guess at 1929, ALSO ARE WE SURE THE PHOTO IS TOWN HALL SQ IT LOOKS VERY LIKE THE VIEW FROM CHURCH ST END , WITH THE BANK ON THE LEFT [ TAKEN FROM NEAR COLES CORNER SITE]

You're bang on with the date of the first picture, Skeets, it was taken from Barkers Pool looking towards Fargate in 1929. The second shot was taken from the Town Hall balcony facing Leopold street. The white building will later become H.L.Brown of the 1 o'clock hooter fame.
