Hi Fellow SHs Could this really be the same street, OK it's 25 years since the first photo was taken and its from the wrong end of Howard Street ,So if someone could get a photo from the same spot might be interesting ??

I would say that the building in the photo that's being 'refurbished' , if that's the right word.

Was due to be the new premises for 'Bennetts' fishing tackle shop, just before the business made it's move from the shop on West Bar to Howard Street.

I would also say that when 'Bennetts' moved into that building, the name was later changed to 'Bennetts of Sheffield'

Sorry I can't help with what the premises was used for before that date.

Hope this helps. The building(s) are now part of the ever sprawling Hallam University something to do with accomodation.

The gable end features the "vultures".
