Sundials and Barometers

Came across this site while trying to track down the original owners of the Dial House. Seems to be quite a few references to Sheffield including a couple for Church Street.

PRANDI, F. AND CO. England, c.1825, PHIM Wheel Barometer = X. see Francis Prandi. 26 Church Street, Sheffield. Goodison 1; Dewhirst.

PRANDI, FRANCIS England, c.1822, PHIM T.C.; barometer maker; see F. Prandi and Co. No. 32 Church Street, Sheffield. Crawforth 1; Goodison 1.

What buildings are, (were) at Nos 26 & 32? Goodison, Dewhurst and Crawforth appear to be the makers.

I remember Cannon McKee of Sheffield Cathedral showing me a very old and rather crude sundial in the Cathedral wall. (facing the Cutlers Hall) It was just a hole in the wall into which you stuck your finger! The markings were worn away, somewhat, but still readable. Is it still there?

Just posted for anyone chasing particular names.

The name Nowill is quite interesting, it's traceable certainly back to 1790's in the High Street/Church Street area
