Ratter
Whenever I drive along Yew Lane, in Parson Cross, I am amazed at how wide it is between the houses on each side. Does anybody have any ideas?
Lysanderix
Could it be that a bus route was planned to use the road?
rover1949
Not only is it wide but there are separate service roads for the houses on each side, an ideal layout leaving the main road clear of parked cars allowing free travel for buses. There are a few similar arrangements around Sheffield (Halifax Road, Ridgeway Road etc.), I think they were all built after WW2 but only for short distances.
