Calvin72
At the junction of Charles St and Pinstone St in the city centre there is a small marker in the pavement commemorating the blitz. I'd never seen it before and don't know when it was put there, or by who. A trail of similar things in the city would be a good thing I think.
History dude
That looks like a quite recent patch to me, so it was either recently done, or the area around it was recently done, the memorial discovered and the tarmac patch worked around by the paving slabs. Though the slabs have been cut to fit the rectangle tarmac patch. So whoever did the paving wanted the area around it to be a rectangle. It's almost the shape of manhole cover the patch. So maybe it was based on that.
tozzin
It’s a very recent thing as there’s no foot wear on it by the look of things.

History dude
The PDF's a bit weird. It goes on a the fictional "Threads" film at one point. Doesn't surprise me though ----------------------- Edit: SteveHB
