History of charity shops in Sheffield

The Overseas Aid shop opened in I think St. Paul's Parade in the late 1960s.  I've just been looking on GSV, what the heck has happened to the Peace Gardens, and where is the standard yard that used top be embedded in the wall?

Blimey you have missed a lot! The standard measurements are now at the other side of the gardens on Cheney Row, you can see them on GSV.

I've been wanting to revisit some of my old haunts, but a certain bat-bug has made life a little difficult!  After a really nasty diagnosis and prognosis I'd planned to do a bit of travelling, so yes, I've missed a lot.  I still regard myself as coming from Sheffield, although I haven't lived there since a brief period in '74 and before that 1965-71 and originally 1956-1959.

The first one which I remember was the Christian Aid Shop on Norfolk Street, this was around 1968. The entrance was nearly directly opposite the rearentrance/exit to the Peace Gardens.
