Andrew
Hi This may be common knowledge - but I can't find an answer. I've attached a photograph of the carved stone lintel above the door of the building on the corner of the High Street and York Street - now part of Lloyds Bank. What organisation/company does it represent? The two obvious clues are the Sheffield coat of arms and "NP" or "PN". My immediate thought was the National Provincial Bank - but the specific Sheffield connection? I am curious to know. Thanks for all answers/suggestions. Michael68
1 to 9 York Street is a listed building on the British Listed Buildings site https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101254583-1-9-york-street-city-ward/photos/10987#.YVN1KHrTWdk It seems to say it's National Provincial. Look at the listing details tab above the picfure. Hope this helps.
