togger
Morning all, Attached is a screen shot from the 1891 Cennsus. I am struggling to work out the birth place surrounded by the red crosses. To me it looks like "Lines Appleby" but I cant find a place with that name. The first word is 'Lines or Limes' i think, so, can anyone help please? Lemmy117
Looking at the lines above, it seems to say Yorks, Darnall, and ditto, Sheffield, so is the line LINCS, APPLEBY. There is a village of that name near Scunthorpe. Nigel L

togger
Oh well done both many thanks: Appleby is a small village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated about 3 miles north-east from Scunthorpe, and on the B1207 road. Returns in the 2001 Census show an Appleby parish population of 597, reducing slightly to 587 at the 2011 census
Athy
Well done Lemmy. Of course, once someone has pointed it out, it's obvious! I do like the categories at the top right, subsequently used by generations of football fans to describe the referee.
