We went there about 5 years ago in August and it never got above 17 degrees except for one day, with rain and wind the others. I was trying to revisit my childhood, from a holiday trip to Mrs Herd's guesthouse on Bramble Hill in the early 1960s. I remember we had a VW beetle and we stopped overnight in a lay-by - the VW had a small space behind the rear seats and I had had to curl up in there for a sleep!
