What are the most favourite, most well known or most fondly remembered shops / cafes on Chapel Walk?

I haven’t been down there in years but seeing pictures of it now makes me sad.

Unfortunately that applies to photos of most of the city centre .

Just the sadness of nostalgia you’d say but I think it’s the sadness of seeing a vibrant, friendly city centre turned into a soulless vacuum.

Id say the heyday of Chapel Walk would be the 60s with the smell of coffee from the Sidewalk cafe that accompanied you all the way along it..

The Methodist Bookshop  ( don’t be put off by the Methodist )

Philip Cann the Music Man

Harry Fenton’s

The Sidewalk

The Art shop

The fruit shop

Tobacconists ?

Andre Bernard ?

All the rest is lost in the mists of time.

I’m sure one of the regulars will come up with a comprehensive list as I’m sure this all must have been discussed on here before
