Evening all,

Firstly I am wanting to know where 15 Court 4 House Corby Street and secondly how far away number 2 Corby Street is. On the maps on this site these are not shown. Can anyone help please?

Court 15 is on this 1890 map, but it doesn't show which house is which.  By 1954 there doesn't seem to be a number 2 - the house next to No 4 is 10 Sutherland Street which was a grocer and corn dealer from 1887 to 1905 when William Treece (also at 1 Princess Street), went bankrupt. The shop had previously been run by his step-father.

However number 2 existed in 1890 when it was one of a batch of surplus properties being sold by the Midland Railway Company:

Hi Edmund, Many thanks for the very quick response. It is not that far away really. My Relatives lived at 15 when the Zepp bombed in 1916 ans I was trying to work out the distance from where they lived.

Regards

The zeppelin bomb that fell on Corby Street appears to have dropped between Windsor Street and Norroy Street, only yards from Court 15. Fatalities were at numbers 143, 146 and 134. The 1911 Census list shows Court 15 just a few doors away from number 141.
